WHAT ARE THE BEAUTY BENEFITS OF OLIVE OIL?

Olive Oil is used a lot in cooking because of its health benefits, but did you know the it can be used in beauty care as well? Legend has it that the Egyptian queen Cleopatra applies Olive Oil to her whole body, giving her supple skin and beautiful hair. Even the all conquering Julius Caesar was smitten by her beauty. That was history, but you can use Olive Oil for beauty care in the modern world too.

Skin care

After a face wash, coat your facial skin surface with Olive Oil and gently massage the face allowing the Olive Oil to be fully absorbed.  This can remove dirt within the pores that are invisible to the eyes. It also increases luster and elasticity of the skin, nourishes the skin and removes fine wrinkles.

Olive Oil on hair

After shampooing, rinse your hair in a basin of water with a small amount of Olive Oil added, allowing the Olive Oil to be spread evenly in your hair. Or drop a few drops of Olive Oil in your palm and gently massage into your hair. This makes the hair shiny and beautiful, and prevents brown and forked hair.
Olive Oil contains vitamins B and E. Apply appropriate amounts of Olive Oil on your hair, gently massage to allow the hair to fully absorb the nutrients, then wrap with a towel for one hour. Wash your hair with a mild shampoo after that, and you will be able to have shiny and supple hair. This also prevents hair loss, oily hair, dandruff, dry hair and split ends.

Makeup Foundation

Before applying your foundation, you can first apply some Olive Oil. This can both nourish your skin and prevent your makeup from falling off.

Lip protection

During sudden cold weathers, a flu or a bad stomach, some people often have chapped lips. In addition to drinking more water, applying Olive Oil on your lips can solve the problem. For two or three days, dip a cotton swab in a small amount of Olive Oil and evenly coat it on your lips. This helps to retain moisture and eliminate and delay wrinkled lips. It also prevents peeling and cracked lips.

Postpartum skin care

Stretch marks after pregnancy can be lightened by massaging a spoonful of Olive Oil gently over it.

Reducing canthus wrinkles (crow’s feet)

Frequently massaging Olive Oil on the side of your eyes helps to reduce or remove the wrinkles.

Olive Oil bath

Add 5-10 ml of Olive Oil into your bathtub of water and stir gently. You can then start bathing in the blend of water and Olive Oil. This removes dirt, soothes your bones and muscles and eliminates fatigue. Long term use will make your skin smooth and elastic.

Chapping and itch prevention

In dry weather, Olive oil can prevent chap skin and itching resulting from reduced skin secretion. Olive oil is also excellent for baby skin care. Applying to babies armpit and buttocks etc. can protect the baby’s skin from being urine or sweat smears. Olive Oil can also help sooth heat or sweat rashes on babies’ skin.

Olive Oil as a massage oil

In the hot summer months, Olive Oil is the best sunscreen massage oil. Applying Olive Oil to the body before and after swimming can effectively give you delicate skin.
